Chery has officially launched the Exeed Yaoguang C-DM Global Edition in the Chinese market. This premium plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) arrives with several significant upgrades, particularly in the performance sector.
This launch simultaneously affirms Chery’s ambition to bring this flagship model to international markets, with the Global Edition specifically prepared for export.
The biggest innovation in this latest edition lies in its extended range capability. The Exeed Yaoguang C-DM Global Edition is claimed to deliver a comprehensive range of up to 1,400 km. This figure makes it a serious contender in the hybrid segment, offering high efficiency without compromising performance.
The model is available in three variant options, providing a diverse range of choices for global consumers. All three variants are offered at competitive prices, starting from 139,900 yuan.
Let’s look at the price breakdown. The base variant, known as the 120 Long-Range 2WD, is priced at 139,900 yuan, equivalent to approximately Rp328 million. Meanwhile, the mid-range variant, the 210 Ultra-Long-Range 2WD, is sold for 169,900 yuan, or about Rp398.3 million. The highest and most sophisticated variant, the 200 Ultra-Long-Range 4WD, is marketed at a price equivalent to Rp445.2 million.
Despite the major overhaul in the power system, the exterior design of the Global Edition maintains the familiar aesthetic of the previous model. The front end is still decorated with the distinctive transparent LED light strip.
These horizontal lights are neatly integrated with vertical lights installed on both sides of the bumper. The exterior look is further enhanced by an attractive two-tone body color option.
The rear of the car retains the use of the iconic translucent taillights. These lights are now perfected with a blend of black trim, providing an elegant and sporty touch. Below, a dual exhaust system is embedded on both sides, emphasizing the car’s performance character.
Dimensionally, this premium vehicle remains unchanged. Its overall length is 4,781 mm, with a width of 1,920 mm and a height of 1,671 mm. The wheelbase, which measures 2,815 mm, guarantees a spacious cabin and stability while driving.
The curb weight of the Exeed Yaoguang C-DM Global Edition varies, ranging from 1,913 kg to 2,171 kg, depending on the configuration of the electric motors and battery used.
The powertrain relies on a 1.5T gasoline engine integrated with an advanced hybrid system. The 1.5TGDI engine itself produces a maximum output of 115 kW (approximately 154 hp) and a peak torque of 220 Nm.
The engine is paired with a combination of two or three electric motors, depending on the chosen variant. The entire power transmission system is controlled by a 3-speed DHT transmission, a key element in achieving the phenomenal 1,400 km efficiency and range.
In this latest global edition, Chery also provides an optional front electric motor that works alongside the DHT transmission.
The 120 Long-Range 2WD variant is the already powerful entry level. This variant is equipped with a front electric motor capable of delivering 201 hp of power with a peak torque of 310 Nm. Its electrical energy is supplied by a 19.53 kWh LFP battery, which is Chery’s own production.
This combination allows the variant to achieve an electric-only range (without gasoline) of 120 km in the CLTC cycle.
Meanwhile, the mid-range variant, the 210 Ultra-Long-Range 2WD, brings superior performance. This variant uses dual electric motors at the front that are collectively capable of producing 221 hp of power with a peak torque of 390 Nm.
The electric motors are paired with a 3-speed DHT transmission.
The battery used is a CATL M3P LFP with a capacity of 34.46 kWh. This larger battery capacity allows the car to travel up to 210 km on pure electric power (CLTC).
The top choice is the 200 Ultra-Long-Range 4WD variant. This all-wheel-drive (AWD) variant is equipped with dual electric motors (front and rear). The electric motor at the front is capable of producing 165 kW of power and a peak torque of 390 Nm.
The rear is equipped with an electric motor with a power capacity of 235 hp and a peak torque of 310 Nm. This massive power is channeled through a 3-speed DHT transmission, also utilizing a 34.46 kWh CATL M3P LFP battery, with an electric-only range of 200 km (CLTC).
Moving to the interior, the Exeed Yaoguang C-DM cockpit exudes a futuristic and luxurious feel. The dashboard features a massive dual screen measuring 24.6 inches. This dual display consists of a full LCD instrument panel in front of the driver and an integrated central control screen.
The car’s infotainment system operates using Chery Lion 5.0. System performance is guaranteed to be fast and responsive thanks to the support of the flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chip.
A classic touch is retained with the distinctive control knob positioned below the central screen. Other advanced features also complement the cabin’s comfort.
These include a premium audio system from eight Sony speakers, a fast 50W wireless charging panel, and 256-color ambient lighting that can adjust to the mood. Rear passenger comfort is also considered with a foldable rear center console.
The Exeed Yaoguang C-DM Global Edition, with its 1,400 km range, a combination of advanced hybrid motor performance, and luxurious interior features supported by a high-end chip, is an attractive offering from Chery in the global PHEV arena.
